About PTTV

Welcome to PORT TOWNSEND TV, which is a Public, Education & Government (PEG) Access Television Station operating in the City of Port Townsend and broadcasting within the city and Jefferson County, which includes Chimacum, Irondale, Port Hadlock, Cape George, Adelma Beach and Port Ludlow.

PEG Access stations offer citizens a venue for creative expression for broadcast to their community via cable. Sometimes PEG Access stations are referred to as Community Access stations.

PORT TOWNSEND TV has two cable channels—channels 97 and 98. Channel 97 is the Public channel and channel 98 is the Education and Government channel.

Rules for programming a PEG Access channel are governed by the Federal Communications Commission, http://www.fcc.gov/, and are strictly enforced. There are many sites that offer information about Community Access on the internet. Another good resource for learning about Community Access is The Alliance for Community Media website at http://www.ourchannels.org/.

PORT TOWNSEND TV is a membership based organization that provides facilities for broadcast production, equipment for field production, editing facilities, training and support for members to produce their own television programs. Members currently produce programs covering a diverse variety of topics, including artist showcases, a Veteran's series, marine trades related programs and other creative and artistic offerings.

Membership fees are minimal to allow people of average income access to quality video production facilities and professional technical support. Our current membership includes a diverse cross section of our community. Membership fees contribute to the support of the operations of the station. Other forms of funding include sponsorships, grants, benefits, and donations. A franchise agreement with Broadstripe Cable company provides partial funding.
